SocMed accepts payments through a number of approved options. Please utilize one of these options for paying your deposit and course fees. In order of preference from SocMed’s perspective, these are:
- Checking – please make out checks to “SocMed, Inc.” and mail to SocMed, 3704 45th Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55406, USA. This is our preferred option as the money goes directly to SocMed’s bank account without any associated fees.
- PayPal – you can pay directly to SocMed via our PayPal account. From your PayPal account, you indicate that you are sending money to “”. For each transaction SocMed is assessed a fee of 2.9% plus $0.30. Any deposits and/or course fees paid to SocMed via this option must cover these fees. For example, for the course fee of $250, the fee is $7.25 (2.9%) plus $0.30 = $7.55, so you would send $257.55.
- SocMed GiveMN Donation Page – you can pay through our official organizational donation website. This allows payment via your credit card. This page is: https://givemn.org/organization/Socmed. SocMed is assessed a fee of 6.9% for money paid to us via this option. Thus, any deposits and/or course fees paid to SocMed via this option must cover this fee. For example, for the course deposit of $250, the fee is $17.25 and thus you should send us $267.25.
- Venmo – the final (and least desirable option) is that you send money directly to the Venmo account of course director Michael Westerhaus, who will then transfer the funds into SocMed’s bank account. You need your own personal Venmo account and you would send to username: Michael-Westerhaus-2. While there are no fees associated with this form of transfer, it adds extra logistics due to the number of transfers that must happen.
